Regional Service

I am occasionally consulted by Oregon state officials (legislators and governors) and federal politicians (representatives and senators) regarding the science underlying ocean management and conservation issues. I have also been invited to report this science to several regional ocean governance entities, including the Oregon Ocean Policy Advisory Council, the Oregon Coastal Zone Management Association, the California Fish and Game Commission, and the Pacific Fisheries Management Council. From 1999 to 2006, I served on the Board of Directors of the Pacific Marine Conservation Council. During 2010, I served as co-chair of the state-appointed Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve Community Team to design a reserve for that region of the Oregon coast.


I am frequently invited to speak at regional events, mostly regarding the science underlying ocean management and conservation issues, including (among many others):
